LATIN AMERICA AERO DEFENSE – 2015

The DefenSea Consultoria will have its own booth at LAAD – Latin America Aero Defense – 2015, largest International Exhibition for Defence and Security in Latin America, biennial event of enormous importance to these sectors in the american continent.

The DefenSea Consultoria also acts as Sales Representative for foreign companies related to maritime activities and defense; in system development, support and integration, as well as navigation aids and support for offshore facilities, including AIS (Automatic Information System), AUV (Autonomous Underwater Vehicle) and ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) equipment.

At each edition, the space allocated to the event and their indicators grow substantially. LAAD 2015 will occupy the five (5) of Riocentro pavilions, which is the largest complex used for major events in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The 2013 edition brought together 693 exhibitors, 42 countries, 24 national pavilions, 128 delegations from 61 countries and more than 34000 visitors from 75 countries. The perspectives for the next edition indicate a growth of about 20% over 2013 numbers.
The event will take place April 14th to 17th, 2015 at Riocentro, located at Avenida Salvador Allende, 6555, Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil.

DEFENSEA CONSULTORIA ATTENDED OCEANS 2014 IN ST. JOHNS, CANADA

A representative of DefenSea Consultoria attended Oceans 2014 in St. Johns, Canada, September 14th to 19th. This event occurs annually and brings together oceans scholars and researchers, as well as the main industries linked to the scientific research of the seas.

During the lectures, there were presented papers on design and performance of gliders, AUV underwater navigation, synthetic aperture sonars and underwater communication networks, among others.

Additionally, we had meetings with a number of partner companies, such as: MetOcean, manufacturer of oceanographic monitoring buoys and beacons; JouBeh, manufacturer of communication and tracking systems based on Iridium technology; Kraken Sonar Systems, manufacturer of synthetic aperture sonars; GeoSpectrum, which designs and manufactures acoustic transducers; ISE – International Submarine Engineering – one of the leading manufacturers of AUV and ROV; Hawbolt Industries, specialized in the design and construction of ROV umbilical winches and AUV launch and recovery systems; OceanWorks; a company that manufactured the submarine rescue system currently employed by the USN; Rockland Scientific, whose specialty is the design and construction of profilers for measuring turbulence; and the EMO Marine Technologies, that designs video/data fiber optic multiplexers appropriate for many marine and subsea applications.

Later, we traveled to Halifax to visit the VTS Control Center of the Canadian Coast Guard, and to meet with our partners at VMT – Virtual Marine Technologies – manufacturer of simulators for lifeboats in offshore platforms.
